take a day off. really! i was farming ~5 per run one day, then ~3 one day, then i took a day off, went out to lunch with some friends... next day i get 10 two runs in a row! magic i tell you!

Yesterday, a run with 3 ecto drops maybe 3 golds.
This morning, 8 ecto drops in a single run plus 5 golds.

Yeah.... it's just a matter of luck.

I've done a couple runs at 3 ectos, then BAM. 6, 8 and 5 the runs after. Done 2 runs yesterday, 3 and 5 ectos respectively. Not bad. Haven't gone in today, don't really plan on it. Need a break from farming.

I have been asking the same question to other sins, It definately seems the drop rate is not as consitent as it was... I mean you can still get 6-7 ectos in a run, but it doesn't happen as often. I did 3 runs last night, and they were my worst ones yet. First run I got 1 ecto, second run 2 ectos, and third run 3 ectos. I might be just because of the time I was farming UW at, as I was usually farming during the day instead of night, and I was gettin an average of 5-6 ectos a run. I was getting 20+ ectos in 4 runs the day before update, and now im getting at most 11 or 12 in 4 runs. But Im gonna do a few runs today, and see how that goes. If I am still getting 2-3 a run, then something definately was changed. It just seems they made it less consitent with the higher number of drops per Mindblade clear. In otherwords, changed the drop rate. I also noticed on my brothers computer that there was a download while going into ToA... So I knew something was up. I didn't get the download myself, since I had done a image update. There wasn't anything mentioned on updates that would have to do something with ToA. But then again, I didn't check to see if there was an download going into UW either, so I am not sure. I would think you need that download to happen while loading UW. I dunno, we'll see, eventually people will notice something different.

I did 5 runs this morning and got 3, 3, 5, 8, 7 for an average of 5 per run. It's all luck and I don't think they changed the drop rate at all. But I've always wondered if the time of day mattered (co-insiding with the number of people in the zone).

Just did a few more runs today, seems to be the same for me. On my first run today I only cleared the First Room of Aatxe with MoR + Font and got an ecto but screwed up and died, same goes for the run after. Then I did another (Aatxe in the 3 rooms + Terrorwebs in second room + all Mindblades) run which netted me 5 ecto and a Sapphire. Third run I got 6 Ecto. So it's been the same for me since pre-update.

I agree with all the previous posts, i think it's all about luck and the roll of the dice.

Mind you, the run before my "all whites, no ecto" effort i had 4 ecto drop from the first rider/spectre group. Got a bit excited and forgot to maintain SF while bunching up second group and died...so i'm thinking the crap run was more a punishment for my retarded gameplay

I think the real question is what is the best way to get ectos in the chaos planes. I get anywhere from 0-8 ectos per run. I’ve only gotten 0 once. I see many people try to go for speed in these runs. 18-30 min runs and such. But I’ve pulled 36 mindblades at once before and only gotten 100 gold drop L Lately I have been killing group to group. Doing that way, I have seen my drops improve as long with my ectos, but my runs become longer. What is the best way?

Yesterday I didn't even get one until killing the last 2 popping mobs, but in combination with them and the dryders you're able to kill I got 6 ectos in 5 minutes...Keep farming! (and: even if you don't get ectos you get tons of golds, lps and other stuff, including UW scrolls so you still amortize your runs..Not counting the ectos, I get about 5k each run gained through selling white crap, golds and salvaging..

you gotta be very careful since the mobs become very big (~40 in your vicinity)..If you aggro another mob while you halfway killed the other one, they will scatter and never melee you again..

I had the scattering problem resulting in me killing them in packs of 2-3 but they didnt drop sht..I'd strongly recommend you to pull them all and wand some.(maybe I just imagine this but for me, it helps.)

Never ever kill the mob with a blast of Cry of Pain!
Get their health down and let them die by the ether nightmare degeneration...You may wand some to death which works very good for me!

The first runs for quite a while, when everybody seemingly had a good ecto droprate, I had about 2-3 ecto's each time. Only recently almost every run I get about 5+ ecto's. If anything I would think the updates improved the ecto droprate

Did a run today and I got two ectos. One from an aataxe in the first room, the 2nd from a terrorweb in pools. No drops from mindblades :'( I hate my luck.
